City of McFarland to Become Nation’s Next Smart City

Little Rock, AR – The Village of McFarland has become the nation’s next Smart City by partnering with Roadway Management Technologies (RMT), the leader in pavement preservation and proprietor of a full suite of performance tracking solutions, including state-of-the-art technology for assessing, maintaining, and improving infrastructure.

“As we pave our path to becoming a Smart City dedicated to preserving, maintaining, and improving our city’s streets for our residents, we quickly realized that Roadway Management Technologies provides everything we’re looking for,” said McFarland Director of Public Works Lee Igl. “We’ll be utilizing their full suite of solutions including Real-Time Pavement Performance Analytics, Work Order Management, Fleet Management, and Asset Management.”

“We realized that how cities currently evaluate their infrastructure with obsolete reports, or how they typically take a “worst first” approach to road repair is simply outdated and costly,” added Lee. “Instead of waiting on a survey report that we don’t get for months and is already inaccurate by the time we receive it, we’ll be receiving our road progress in real-time, and we’re excited about that, as well as the ability to effectively estimate road improvement projects that will extend the life of our roads and save us on the bottom line. The proof is in the data provided and the achievability of our bottom line.”

RMT utilizes machine learning and AI technology to provide an agency with real-time pavement performance analytics. This advanced technology is easily deployed, providing information that was previously unattainable. Its proprietary systems were developed specifically for government agencies that are responsible for maintaining their area’s infrastructure.

“McFarland is a leader and early adopter of Smart City Technology, and its residents will no doubt benefit from our proprietary technology and expertise,” said RMT CEO Candler McCollum. “Providing an agency the accurate real-time data to help them determine the right treatment at the right time before expensive reconstruction work becomes necessary is at our core. In addition, our system also monitors the performance preservation efforts, providing a quantitative return on investment.”

Roadway Management Technologies’ full suite of solutions includes Real-Time Pavement Performance Analytics, Work Order Management, Fleet Management, and Asset Management, providing agencies with a single solution for all performance tracking needs. RMT was the proud recipient of the American Public Works Association (APWA) Top Technology Award in 2021 and 2022.
