Huntington, WV Partners with Roadway Management Technologies

Little Rock, ARHuntington, WV, has become the nation’s next Smart City by partnering with Roadway Management Technologies (RMT), the leader in pavement preservation and proprietor of a full suite of performance tracking solutions, including state-of-the-art technology for assessing, maintaining, and improving infrastructure.

“Huntington has become an innovative leader on a number of services that we provide to the public,” Huntington Mayor Steve Williams said. “Now, we are looking to innovation as we strive toward the goal of a 10-year life cycle for paving or rejuvenating our public roadways. This partnership with Roadway Management Technologies will give us access to invaluable data that will propel our city into the future through pavement preservation.”

“We are of the mindset that the ‘worst-first’ method needs to be left in the past,” added Huntington Public Works Director Mark Bates. “Evaluating our roads through real-time analytics and developing a pavement preservation plan that will extend the lifespan of our roads and keeping traffic causing construction to a bare minimum is critical for our city and will now be accomplished through our partnership with RMT.”

RMT utilizes machine learning and AI technology to provide an agency with real-time pavement performance analytics. This advanced technology is easily deployed, providing information that was previously unattainable. Its proprietary systems were developed specifically for government agencies that are responsible for maintaining their area’s infrastructure.

“The city of Huntington, WV is now embarking on a preservation journey that is sure to improve the overall quality of their roadways,” said RMT CEO Candler McCollum. “Our Real-Time Pavement Performance Analytics will allow us to assess the conditions of their current and use machine learning and AI technology to make suggestions for the best possible pavement treatment plan based on climate and usage, ultimately extending their lifespan and avoiding total road reconstruction.”

Roadway Management Technologies’ full suite of solutions includes Real-Time Pavement Performance Analytics, Work Order Management, Fleet Management, and Asset Management, providing agencies with a single solution for all performance tracking needs. RMT was the proud recipient of the American Public Works Association (APWA) Top Technology Award in 2021, 2022, and 2023.
