There are over 4 million miles of public roads in the United States. According to the ASCE’s 2021 Infrastructure Report Card, nearly 43% of our nation’s roadways are in poor or mediocre condition.
Even more frustrating– the vast majority of roads in poor condition tend to be non-interstate or rural roads, meaning it’s the roads we drive everyday that need the most help.
There’s plenty of literature out there about poor roads, but we all see it in our own experiences traversing local road networks. Those pesky potholes, bumps, and rough patches have real consequences. In fact, poor roads cost the average driver close to $600 in damages each year.
