Villa Rica, GA Becomes the Nation’s Next Smart City By Partnering with Roadway Management Technologies

Little Rock, ARVilla Rica, GA, has become the nation’s next Smart City by partnering with Roadway Management Technologies (RMT), the leader in pavement preservation and proprietor of a full suite of performance tracking solutions, including state-of-the-art technology for assessing, maintaining, and improving infrastructure.

“The City of Villa Rica has had a large increase in population,” said Hal Burch, the city’s Public Works Director. “Keeping our streets and roads open and safe for both local and industrial traffic is very important, and we hope this relationship with RMT will help us do that.”

Villa Rica, located within the Atlanta metro area, is known as the “City of Gold,” both for its history as Georgia’s first gold rush in 1826, and golden opportunities for residents and new business.

Burch said the relationship with RMT, and its Real-Time Pavement Performance Analytics will help Villa Rica to determine the state of its roadways and develop a plan to extend their lifespan.

RMT utilizes machine learning and AI technology to provide an agency with real-time pavement performance analytics. This advanced technology is easily deployed, providing information that was previously unattainable. Its proprietary systems were developed specifically for government agencies that are responsible for maintaining their area’s infrastructure.

“Our partnership with Villa Rica is an exciting one that is going to allow them to drastically improve the conditions of their roadways,” said RMT CEO Candler McCollum. “Our Real-Time Pavement Performance Analytics will allow us to assess the conditions of their current roadways by utilizing their already used fleet vehicles. This will enable is to use machine learning and AI technology to make suggestions for the best possible pavement treatment plan based on climate and usage, ultimately extending their lifespan and avoiding total road reconstruction.”

Roadway Management Technologies’ full suite of solutions includes Real-Time Pavement Performance Analytics, Work Order Management, Fleet Management, and Asset Management, providing agencies with a single solution for all performance tracking needs. RMT was the proud recipient of the American Public Works Association (APWA) Top Technology Award in 2021, 2022, and 2023.
